The Night of the Birthday (誕生日の夜, Tanjōbi no Yoru) is the first episode of the Arcana Famiglia -La storia della Arcana Famiglia- anime.
Plot[]
The two rivals team up.
In the harbor of Regalo, Nova attempts to apprehend a bunch of robbers. One of the criminals throws some dynamite and the explosion can be heard from the SS Arcana. Before Dante can protest, Libertà rushes off to investigate. While Nova continues to fight the robbers, Libertà enters the fray, leading the two to bicker as they defeat several crooks. The leader of the robbers escapes via automobile along with several of his men, so Nova and Libertà chase after them.

Elsewhere, Felicità is patrolling the town together with Swords while Luca nervously convinces her to return the manor in order to prepare for the upcoming celebration. Suddenly, the car carrying the criminals passes by. As Libertà manages to grabs onto the car, Debito appears and fires two gunshots at the robbers, effectively knocking two of them off. This is followed by the arrival the of Dante who fires his bazooka at the car, causing Libertà to be sent flying, and luckily caught by Pace. The criminal boss is then stopped by Nova.
Luca and the maids disappointed.
At night, inside the family manor, Mariella, Isabella and Donatella tell Felicità that she should wear a dress. So does Luca, but his pleads lead nowhere, and Felicità runs off in her usual attire. The maids blame her disobedience on Luca's upbringing.
Luca and Pace notice Jolly.
After Felicità and Luca arrive to the party hall, Debito and Pace are disappointed not to see Felicità in a dress. Nova intervenes and insists that it doesn't matter; just then, Felicità's Arcana activates and she is able to see Nova's and Libertà's fantasies about herself. This angers Felicità, resulting in her knocking Libertà down with a kick. As everyone is surprised about her sudden reaction, Jolly enters and informs everyone that Felicità got upset because Libertà was thinking "bad things". However, she was only able to sneak peek by accident, and Jolly claims it is because she is still a child. In that moment, Luca stops Jolly from touching Felicità.
Nova and Libertà express their shock when they hear Mondo's words.
Pace interrupts the discussion and points out that the official part is beginning. After Dante greets everyone, Mondo walks into the party hall followed by Sumire. The Family members cheer, and Mondo announces that he is considering retirement.
Mondo fights Felicità.
He proclaims that Arcana Duello will be held in two months to determine his successor. The winner will become "Papa", have their wish granted, and marry Felicità. Shocked to hear that, Felicità confronts her father, stating that she does not wish to be married. Mondo points out that since she joined the Family of her own free will, she is going to do as he says. However, she can go free if she defeats him here and now. The two engage in a battle, with Mondo blocking each kick his daughter launches, until he throws her to the ground. Luca quickly rushes to Felicità's aid, whilst Sumire does the same for Mondo.
Nova stops Libertà from attacking Mondo.
Libertà is the next to become agitated by Mondo's behavior, claiming that a father would never deprive a daughter from her freedom. Mondo taunts him, so Libertà draws his sword and charges. Nova opposes him and steps forward to protect Mondo; the two charge at each other, but Libertà is abruptly stopped in his tracks, while Nova trips. This is revealed to be the work of Pace and Debito. Held back by Pace, Libertà suddenly activates his Arcana, managing to break free but he trips before Mondo. The man re-approaches him, acknowledging his performance as pitiful and informing the boy that he will have to win the Duello to free Felicità.
Sumire smiles warmly at Felicità.
As Mondo leaves the hall, Sumire turns and gives Felicità a warm smile, telling her that there exists a possibility of her winning the Duello. The couple walk down the hallways, and Mondo says the Wheel of Fortune has begun to spin.
Dante and Jolly converse.
After the celebration, Debito and Pace imagine being married to Felicità, which angers Luca. When asked what he is going to do, Luca plans to support Felicità; however, Debito points out that everyone with Arcana powers have to participate, incluting Luca. In a separate room, Dante chats with Jolly. While Dante states that Mondo's idea is absurd, Jolly jokes that he is becoming excited about Felicità becoming his wife and that he will in fact win if he takes the fight seriously.
A goal is born.
Outside the manor, near the fountain, Libertà assures Felicità that he'll become "Papa" and free her. Nova approaches the two and claims that he will be the one to set her free, because Libertà lacks the control over his Arcana needed to win. Libertà backfires that Nova hasn't been seen using any ability either. Before walking off, Nova demands that Libertà stops calling him "Chickpea".
